I'm curious if I am to travel to continental Europe, with my license in the United Kingdom in place of a passport? Why do I need a passport when driving my shows I'm in the EU?

    Since the United Kingdom is not signartory of the Schengen agreement, as are other EU members - with the exception of Ireland - you have to have a passport.

    You only need your ID to travel within the EU (and) also borders between countries, if you are a citizen of an EU country.
